The Law of Detraction

Let’s first define the term detraction:

A detraction is the opposite of an attraction––it is something bad about someone or something. If you love peace and quiet and you’re thinking about buying a house, a location on a major road would be a detraction. Detraction comes from detract, which means to diminish or to speak badly of someone or something.

Ever wonder why the law of attraction is not working for you, all the way? You did everything by the books. For example, you did your daily meditation, visualization, affirmation, religiously, and it’s still not working 100%. Isn’t it frustrating? Have you ever asked yourself why? Why? Despite all the efforts, you’re still not getting SUCCESS 100%?. And here is the answer…

The negative force inside us Is way more potent than the positive one. I call it The Law of Detraction. The doubt and fear that we hold inside of us detracts us from the path to success. It is a very powerful distraction.

For example, if you activate the Law of Attraction, you are going, say like 60 mph. But then, The Law of Detraction gets in the way, and creates a detour to your path to success. Which results in lowering your speed down to 30 mph. The only antidote to this situation is to start working on The Law of Detraction along with the Law of Attraction. Here is the sad story of our life, unless you wanna go on board the laws simultaneously, they will keep on canceling out each other. Later on, I’ll go into details, as to, how to activate them?

For right now let me prove it to you first:

There are three negative forces working against us every day that we are very much familiar with. I called them “3-C Forces.” And they are:

  1. Complain,
  2. Condemn and
  3. Criticize

I challenge you to try it in your personal life just for 10 days. That’s it. All I’m asking you is for the next 10 days, be on your guard not to complain, condemn, or criticize any person or situation. You will see guaranteed results after 10 days. Sometimes even faster, maybe in a day or two.

Once a college student came to me and asked, Mr. MITRA, everybody talks about the SUCCESS theory. Do you have any theory for failure? I said, you bet. Let me give you three things, if you try them, you will never fail to achieve failure. I call it law of 3-P’s:

  1. Poor Planning
  2. Procrastination and
  3. Perfectionism

Success Secrets

Success Roadmap

In the 90s there came a popular TV series, called The Revenge. It’s a story of a girl who why is taken everything away from her. But with her dedication, perseverance and faith, she got it all back. While taking revenge from our enemies. It’s a very captivating crime thriller, but also shows you, what a seemingly average looking person is capable of doing? This famous quote came from that TV serial:

“To succeed, a revolution requires absolute dedication against overwhelming odds.”

Now, if you ask me absolute dedication for what? I would say, in one word, it’s all about FOCUS. The girl was focused so much that without achieving the intended goal, her life felt useless. Her dedication was so deadly that nothing dared to come in between her and the goal.

So, in other words, dedication calls for focus. And focus calls for concentration.

Concentration is the essence of all knowledge, and meditation plays an important role in strengthening one’s concentration. – Swami Vivekananda

Let’s imagine for a second…

You have read a lot of books, watched a lot of motivational videos on YouTube and did some deep research on Google for success. Still, you’re not there in life yet, where you wanted to be. You may be making $100,000 a year but you know for sure that your true potential calls for making $500,000 a year. So, you’re constantly questioning yourself, where am I missing the boat? Why is the Law of Attraction not working for me?

And that is the riddle we are going to decipher for you today. I’ll give you four things without twitch achieving your real Potential would be next to impossible. I myself have a red countless number of books ever since I was 13 years old. Went through a lot of trainings. Hired a lot of good Mentors. But everybody had the one cardinal problem. They all were too busy talking about how then why. So even after I did, whatever they asked me to do, I could not find the real SUCCESS in my life.

Let me explain the relationship between WHY and HOW:

If you have a why, you will find the how, said the famous German philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche. I came across this sentence when I was going to college. But this one sentence has influenced my life so much that I made the mantra for my life. And here is why…

Why – it is the main reason for you to achieve your goal. Do you know other words it’s sort of your destination. Stronger the reason, faster are the chances of achieving your goal.

How – once you find the real reason, then you find how to get to that goal. This one is sort of a roadmap, that guides you how to get to your destination.

To clarify it a little more, let me share it to the famous quote from Dr. Stephens or Covey…

Leadership deals with direction.

Management deals with speed, logistics, coordination and going into that direction.

And, unfortunately, most of the people, most of the time leaves in the management quadrant. So much so that whenever you talk to someone about a dream or a goal, right away, they will go into how to do it mode. And the moment you get into “HOW,” you start thinking talking and visualizing about all the difficulties, and all the reason why it’s not possible.

On the other hand, successful people, make sure the reason for which they want to do certain thing, is the right reason. In other words, they hone their “WHY.” Trust me, more clear, you are about your why, the faster you will achieve your goal.

The thing that really makes me sad is not only regular people in their daily life leave continuously into how mode, but also corporations and businesses, do the same mistake. You pick up any business, which is extremely successful, I’ll show you how much they worked on their WHY.

I know we’re getting a little bit philosophical here, but without that, it will be a long arduous journey for you to achieve your goal.

Now, let’s take care of the fun part. I’m going to give you a formula that I dare to challenge you that nobody has ever brought to you before all the elements of this formula at one place. Yes, this is the actual an exact missing link for your success:

  1. Energy
  2. Focus (concentration)

Let me give you a simple formula for success, which works like clockwise, if you follow it…

E + F = S

ENERGY + FOCUS = SUCCESS

Now let’s look at this output equation below:

On this chart, look at the difference between using your energy and focus to its fullest level, versus using them partially… the results are astronomical.

Say, for example, on the scale, one to 10, if you use 10 points of your energy, 10 points of your focus and 10 points of your time, that will eat your result of 1000.

On the other hand, if you use only 5 points of your energy, one point of your focus and one point of your time, that produces you a result of minuscular 5.

That is the reason, you got to have your eyes on the right amount of energy, focus, and also the right place where you’re putting your time. Now we’ll go one by one, how to gather them and use them to your benefit. If you mastered this art, you will never need to look back in life.

So, previously, we were talking about the famous line from the TV series, The Revenge…

“To succeed, a revolution requires absolute dedication against overwhelming odds.”

Dedication means what?

Focus (when you are dedicated, you will have focus)

Focus means what?

Concentration. (when you are focused, you will concentrate on the thing at hand)

Concentration is the essence of all knowledge.

How do you concentrate/focus?

Through deep meditation and watching your thoughts.

PS: Here, take some notes from Jim Fortin’s pages.

Concentration (Focus) has two parts:

  1. Meditation
  2. Vigilance on your thoughts

Both of them go hand-in-hand. And each complement one another. I know you are used to hear from people that in order to achieve your goals you need to do a regular session of meditation or visualization. My question is, if it was that easy, why everybody that tried visualizing a goal every day, did not achieve it?

And here is the reason, your negative thoughts. It’s like you are driving a car in full speed at the same time. You have also activated the handbrake. Do you think the car will be able to give you the optimum, speed or mileage? Absolutely not. It’s exactly like that. You may visualize your goal three times a day. But if you do not keep on clearing up, your negative thoughts every hour of the day, you might still be able to get some, but definitely not the optimum desired result.

That’s why they say, eternal vigilance is the price of mastery.

Vigilance on what?

Your thought process.

One of the biggest enemies of success is doubt and fear. And when it’s supported by jealousy, anxiety, depression, and all that, you got the picture.

And I’ll go into more details as we get deeper into it. Just bear with me.

These are the thoughts you need to think about:

Think about your happiness.

Think about your feelings.

Think about your aspirations.

Think about your goals for today.

Think about today? In a week? In the next 90 days?

Think about how it will look like after 90 days when you achieve it?

Think about you one thing of the day.

Think about your to do list, your daily schedule.

Think about three things you want to achieve next day, just before sleep.

Think about getting up in the morning.

Think about early to return at 9 PM.

Think about silence, solitude, stillness.

Think about meditating twice a day for 20 minutes each.

Think about your ideal body.

Think about your authentic self.

Now, we have the first part of the equation, which is concentration (Focus).

Let’s talk about the second part, which is ENERGY…

Someone once told me,

Where your attention goes, energy flows.

In other words, the more attentive you are in preserving and creating your energy, faster you will get to your goal.

“When you make your health your #1 priority the rest becomes so much easier.” — Tim Ferriss

All my life my definition of health was to look muscular and all that. But after in my 50’s I discover a simple definition of health, “If you have got enough energy that carries you through the day, you are healthy.”

Yes, look at a child. So full of energy. But when she gets tired, just goes to sleep. So close to nature. As the famous poet Virgil says, HEALTH IS WEALTH.

“Follow the Energy” …. I found Jack Butcher’s advice so handy that I started thinking in terms of “What robs me of energy and what gives me energy?” A bad life is full of low energy; a good life is high energy. — Tim Ferriss

Energy has two parts:

  1. Cleaning your gut
  2. Regular physical exercise

Cleaning your gut — let’s think about the gutter on our roof. Do you think it’s healthy for the house if the gutters on the roof are clogged? With the same token, how efficiently do you think your body will work, if your intestine is clogged up? If you’re thinking about Constipation, you are absolutely correct. In fact, in Ayurveda, constipation is called the mother of all disease. Beware of it. But this is not the only reason for a clogged-up intestine. There are several others too. The best thing you can do is continuously keeping your pipeline clean, with regular detox. Whatever you’re eating is digested properly, you’ll have a clean bowel movement. Then, there is no reason you should not have enough energy for the day that you need. Mother Nature has built our body to heal by itself and to be healthy, not to be sick. It’s only when the food that we are eating are not actual food. I call it food-like substance. All these artificial foods with preservatives and frozen foods and fast foods I’m doing our body Moore harm today, then ever before in human history. You got to eat healthy. You’ve got to keep your gut clean.

Second part to have enough energy for the day is to get into regular exercise. I’m talking about both, aerobic and strength training.

The Importance of Regular Exercise

Do whatever you want to do, but, if you do not exercise (and you are 50+) your HIPPOCAMPUS (which is responsible for learning and memory)… will get a reduction in its size… leading to memory problems.

Exercising increases the volume of the HIPPOCAMPUS, safeguarding an individual against dementia.

The Importance of Vigorous Physical Activity

By cutting out practicably on vigorous physical activity, we tend to lose some of the flexibility of our joints. Lack of exercise causes our capillaries to constrict and virtually disappear, and the supply of live giving blood through our tissues is drastically curtailed. Vigorous exercise is necessary to dilate the capillaries which feed all the body tissues and remove waste products.

Our “old age” can be postponed by slowing down the rate of waste production, or by helping the system to get rid of waste. In the human body the capillaries are the channels through which waste is removed. It has definitely been established that lack of exercise and inactivity literally dries up the capillaries.  —- Maxwell Maltz in Psycho Cybernetics

“Fit your life” into it, not other way around

“Fit your life into It, don’t fit it into your life.”

Why it is critical to make this your #1 commitment?

Imagine you’re picking up a habit of getting up early…

If you try to “Fit this into” your life…

You are already working from your old context.

“Fit your life” into this new habit, discipline or commitment.

Your life should rotate/spin around creating this new habit.

In other words, if you want to get up at 5 o’clock in the morning, You should create a lifestyle that fits in this new habit.

But, if you try to create this new habit that fits into your lifestyle…

Then you will be working from your old context… doomed to fail.

The Importance of Rule of Three

Follow these 3 things religiously as if your life depends on it:

  1. Make sleeping a priority
  2. Make meditation a priority
  3. Make eating raw foods a priority

Dr. Daniel G. Amen in, “Unleashing the power of the female brain,” wrote…

My prescription for a healthy brain includes, a healthy diet and proper nutrition, exercising the brain and body, and ample sleep, of course. Overall, a burning desire to train your brain.

The Importance of the Pruning Shears of Revision

In his 1954 lecture, “The Pruning Shears of Revision,” Neville Goddard recommends…

“At the end of every day, before you go to sleep, think through the events of the day.  If any events or moments did not go the way you wanted, replay them in your mind in a way that thrills you. As you recreate those events in your mind exactly as you want, you are cleaning up your frequency from the day and you are emitting a new signal and frequency for tomorrow. You have intentionally created new pictures for your future. It is never too late to change the pictures.” Consult this chapter from The Secret, on page #73…

The Importance of Green, Leafy Vegetables

A recent study in the medial journal NEUROLOGY reported that eating about a cup (one serving) of fresh leafy vegetables daily like kale, lettuce or spinach may help support healthy brain function in older adults. The authors attributed these benefits to nitrates and folate in these vegetables.

The Importance of Regular Exercise

Do whatever you want to do, but, if you do not exercise (and you are 50+) your HIPPOCAMPUS (which is responsible for learning and memory)… will get a reduction in its size… leading to memory problems.

The Importance of Sitting Quietly

“You do not need to leave your room. Remain sitting at your table and listen. Do not even listen, simply wait, be quiet, still and solitary. The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked, it has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet.” —Franz Kafka (Austrian philosopher & poet)

The flip side of a Plan-B

Once you have a plan-b, it becomes very difficult to convince your subconscious, that this is exactly what you need. For logical issues and solutions, you can have as many plans as you wish, but when it comes to the subconscious, you need conviction. The subconscious communicates in feelings, so your feelings need to be sincere when making auto suggestions. Having no plan-b also enables you to focus completely on your target, leaving no doubt in your mind, that you will do everything possible to achieve your goal.

Introduction You might have come across hundreds, if not thousands of books on self-development. But this book that you’re holding in your hand is unlike any others that you ever thought, touched, seen, or heard about. And it’s not an exaggeration by any stretch of ideas, it’s a proven hard fact. The question is, “WHY?” Why am I making such a big audacious claim? And here lies the answer… There are two kinds of SUCCESS BOOKS, Conceptual and Practical – with tools Till the late 1990s most of the SELF-IMPROVEMENT books were basically conceptual. Let me give you an example, John said, if you go to a gym, you will become stronger. The question is, since I’m lazy or maybe I do not have enough time or maybe I do not have that motivation to continue it day after day, how can I make myself go to the gym? John replied, he will have to be disciplined. I asked, how can I become disciplined? He said it will have to be focused. How can I be focused? You’ll have to change your habit. How do I change my habit? It will have to be disciplined. See how I’m going where we are going? Round and round and round. No specific direction, or tools. Talking about a practical book which provides tools: towards the end of 1990s people started working more on our subconscious mind, Neuro-Linguistic programming with you know called NLP, and all that. Then in 2006 came the book the secret. And they sold the old wine in a new water by using an age-old slogan called, the law of attraction. And I bet you, even by reading the secret, you could not figure it out. Then after that, started coming some groundbreaking brooks like The Answer by John Assaraf, the ONE Thing by Gary Keller and all that. They started providing tools. Tools that if you use, you see the results amazingly fast. What this website is going to bring you today is beyond concept, beyond merely a tool. It is a formula, that if you apply in your life, your chances of catching, seeing, and experiencing success within 30 to 45 days, and it works like clockwork. I’ll give you a system to create success in your life, very very quickly. It has worked for me, in my life and people around me, time and again. So, it will work for you too. Before we start, let me talk briefly about these principles in life: Did you know that three things are so important to achieve any goal, that, without them, you are simply setting yoruself up for failure: Association, Systems, and Habits (And, then comes Happiness & Self-Image)
  1. Association: You need to continuously associate with like-minded people through their association, books, blogs, audio, video, podcast, training etc. It could be your friends, family, neighbor. You chose it. Make a partner. A very good and fail-safe idea is to hire a trainer. She’ll be invested in your success + you got someone accountable + a continuous association. As Henry Ford once said, “Keeping together is progress. Working together is a success.” “Keeping together is progress. Working together is a success.”
  2. Systems: You have to have a simple system to achieve anything worthwhile in life, and you know it well. As it is aptly said by Scott Adams, writer of The Dilbert Principle,“Losers have goals, winners have systems.” If you asked me, “Sunny, how to achieve a goal?” My simple answer would be… (a) Get a system to execute it, and (b) Get an association to continue it. Here, one word of caution, your system should be very simple… then only it will take you far in life. And, you would not stop an endeavor before the finish line.
  3. Habits: Now, about Habits, I can talk for the whole day, it so important to get the good one and quit the bad one. But it is also very hard. Later on, when we’ll visit the Habits Chapter, we’ll go in details about it. But without good habits it is really hard to achieve great success. “First we create our habits, then our habits create us.” – Buddha.
  4. Happiness:First, let me ask you a quick question, “Do you know what is the worst thing that holds us back in achieving success?” It is Doubt and Fear. Then, the question is, “How to make your success program fail-safe? How to overcome our doubts and fears? Be happy. Happiness is the secret sauce to success. People think, if I get success, I’ll be happy. But unfortunately, it works the other way around, “If I’m happy, I’ll be more relaxed (less doubt and fear), attract more pertinent people and opportunities in my life, to achieve my desired goal.” Happiness is a habit. The biggest secret in life is to “Be happy at the present moment.” Happiness is the secret sauce to success.
  5. Self-Image: Without an adequate self-image, it will be very hard to get a big goal. And, even if you did, you’ll lose everything because you do not believe that you’re the kind of person who deserves it. One of my early teachers in life, Saryu Paswan, had told me in 1967, “First deserve, then desire.” At that time, I could not understand it. But today I know, he was talking about the utmost importance of self-image in our lives. Through our Stories (that we have for our life) + Actions (that we take to make something happen) + Habits (that we create and follow to support our actions). Just think about Mike Tyson. He made millions in his life, but also lost it. You got the point. To re-cap, the formula for to build adequate Self-Image is:
Stories + Actions + Habits. You should try to learn these five principles, master them, implement it in your life, and then teach it to others. If you did that, it would become yours forever. How to Get Rid of Your Doubt and Fear The mind gives us thousands of ways to say no, but there’s only one way to say yes, and that’s from the heart. It’s great when you start to make the connections between your memories and your fears. Now you have to make sure those fears stay far away; they will try, if you let them, to keep coming back. We have to retrain our minds away from thinking that we can’t control money, that we don’t deserve to do well, that not enough money is going to come in, that we don’t have enough now, that we won’t have enough tomorrow. Believing, really believing, other realities make other realities true: that we can control money, that we do deserve to do well, that there will be enough. How do we replace the old fears, the old reality? With new thoughts. With new truths. The fear of money was a never-ending battle: Would I meet my quota each month, or would I be out on the street? I needed something to override the fear that was eating me alive. I decided to change my perception of my situation and create a new truth for myself. I created what I wanted for myself first on paper. Every morning before I went to work, I would write over and over again: “I am young, powerful, and successful, producing at least $10,000 a month.” Why did I say “at least”? Because why limit it? What if the world wanted to give me more? Why did I use the present tense? Because this was the life I wanted to live in the present tense, not tomorrow, not someday. Now. I wrote down that truth twenty-five times a day, said it to myself in the mirror, thought about it each time I went up and down in the elevator. That’s what I would say, and that’s the truth I created. I still carry that truth around with me like a lucky charm in words, and it still works. I replaced the message of fear, and my belief I was inadequate, with a message of endless possibility. You can, too, once you pull the fear out from wherever you’ve pushed it away to, face it, and use the power of your mind to put it behind you. For twenty, thirty, forty years, or more, we’ve all been creating paradigms about ourselves, telling ourselves who we are, financially and in every other way. Part of this comes from what we were told about ourselves as children (“You’ll be a secretary just like your mom”; “You’ll be a gambler, just like your father”; “You’ll never amount to much unless you do X, Y, or Z”). The rest is what we tell ourselves, fears, and all, over and over until we believe it absolutely. Your new future begins with your new truth. Install Your New Habit Now The power of positive thinking is not a new idea, but when it comes to money it is, because we’re still so afraid. We’re in a culture of slogans—in ads, on bumper stickers, on T-shirts, needle-pointed onto pillows. Call it what you like—a financial mantra, a new truth, a new belief in yourself —but you must create a positive, empowering message for yourself and instill it into your powerful mind to replace the fear you’re leaving behind, beginning now. Install it, instill it, retrain your mind to believe it. Write it down twenty-five times a day, have it stamped on a T-shirt and sleep in it every night, say it to yourself on your way to work, when you pay your bills, when you begin to worry about money, when you feel afraid. Say it when you’re shaving, when you’re in the shower, first thing in the morning, last thing at night. A positive message to yourself, a message of possibilities. Do it when you resist it, do it when you don’t believe in it, do it when you feel as if it’s a useless drill, keep doing it until you believe it. Then it will be true. Three rules for your new truth: Make it short enough so that you can remember it exactly, word for word, so that it’s easy for you to say, “I have more money than I will ever need.” Put your message in the present tense; the future begins today: “I am in control of all of my affairs.” Make it an unlimited truth, to open the way to receive: “I am putting at least $200 a month into savings.” Fears hate more than anything else to be defeated. They will try to invade your new truth like a virus, telling you what you can’t do, not what you can do, telling you what you can’t be, not what you are becoming, telling you what you aren’t—not what you are and have every right to be. Don’t listen. Just keep repeating your new truth the way I did in the elevator. What is “income”? Something that comes in. Have your new truth with you, as you now open the door to new wealth and happiness. Your new truth is bigger than your fears, bigger than your debt, bigger than your worries about the future, bigger than all the things you’ve meant to do with your money but haven’t done. Now we will do them. Two things should be out of our system called, “Doubt and Fear.”
